We make it through another short trail in the redwoods and then head to lunch at a small café on the edge of town. After stuffing our faces full of sandwiches and chips, we drive down to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk Amusement Park and spend our afternoon riding rides and eating junk food.

By the time we arrive back at the apartment, Landon is wiped out, and I can tell Finn is itching to get him off of his feet.

“We could watch a movie,” Landon says through a yawn, favoring his good leg and leaning heavily into Finn.

“I think they’re tired,” Finn interjects, pulling Landon closer to him.

My eyes settle on Finn’s hands and then I arch an eyebrow at him, which, of course, goes ignored. “I am pretty tired,” I agree.

“Hear that?” he tells Landon and then practically carries him back to the bedroom.

When the door closes with a snick, I turn to Theo.

“You saw that, right?” I ask softly.

He wets his lips and then shrugs. “You mean Finn and your brother?”

I nod. “Yeah.”

He rolls his lips between his teeth and then steps toward me. “Would it bother you if they had feelings for each other?”

“Of course not.”

He continues to watch me for a moment and then his eyes slip away from mine.

“I’m going to shower.”

“Yeah, okay. Good idea. Me too.”

Theo bends down to grab a change of clothes from his duffle and I shamelessly ogle his ass.

“I mean, I won’t take a shower with you,” I add. “You know, unless you want me to?”

Theo straightens and bites down on his bottom lip. “I think it’s better if we don’t.”

I nod but feel the smallest twinge of disappointment as I sit on the bed to wait for him to be done.

When Theo reemerges in just a towel, wet and smelling fantastic, my dick is unbearably hard all through my turn in the shower. Unfortunately, he didn’t leave any of his soap for me to use, but it’s probably for the best. I totally would have jacked off with it.

I wash as quickly as I can, trying not to acknowledge Landon’s shower chair that sits in the corner, and then move out to the living room where Theo is once again scribbling in his journal. He’s wearing some sort of fuzzy shorts and no shirt.

“What are you writing?” I ask and he snaps the journal shut.

“Nothing.”

I lower myself onto the mattress next to him. “You write a lot.”

He slides that journal into his duffle bag and begins fiddling with his pencil.

“I have a lot on my mind.”

I inch a little closer to him. “Like what?”

“I’m not telling you.”

“Why not? We’re…friends now.”

He pulls his lips between his teeth and my eyes snag on the movement.

God, what is it about this guy?

“Will you tell me what happened?” Theo turns to face me and then whispers. “With your brother.”

I swallow roughly, my chest constricting tightly.

“Tell me a secret first.”

I know I’m pushing my luck, but it’s my only bargaining chip.

Theo hesitates for just a moment and then shifts to face me and leans in.
